I was doing some online research today and discovered a Canadian jewelry designer in my own backyard. :) I'm an admitted softie for anything that includes swarovski crystals and this line of yummies features lots of said sparkly bits! After some delightful clicking around her website, I see that designer Jules Frkovich is actually retailed at Bisou Bridal (a gorgeous Vancouver bridal gown boutique that carries many couture lines including Monique Lhuillier).
I loved the pretty chandelier earrings (pictured here) that would be so fresh and pretty for a bridesmaid wearing any shade of pink, coral, gold or champagne.

Vera does it. Monique does it. Yes, even Marc Jacobs does it. That is, infuse fashion design sensibility into fine china. ;)
We already adore his designs for LV, so it shouldn't be any surprise that Jacobs has teamed up with an iconic name in table top fashion - Waterford. I'm choosing the whimsical and colourful ELIZABETH pattern as my top select in this designer china collection...

I am back to my desk after an amazing week in Hawaii where it's sunny and lovely and HOT. Yep, HOT. Admittedly, I was still daydreaming about the warmth of the sunshine when I got to work this morning (heck, with the Vancouver rain pounding on my office window it couldn't be helped).
But, it wasn't long before I had a heat wave in the office! Sifting thru a mountain of emails that had piled into my inbox, there was one in particular that stood out. It was a press release from the talented duo of CHRIS+LYNN Photography. I swoon for swirls. I guess it's my inner design diva that springs into action when I find products festooned with swirly goodness. One such moment of joy came today when I saw these perfectly delightful fun fashion items from CAKE (a division of Inkbox Design).
Part whimsy, part vintage and part good 'ole fashion fun this is a line of products for you, your bridesmaids and your furry children. (Furry children being a running theme from yesterday).
The "Miss Bride" hoodie sells for $75 while the perfectly "pawsh" Doggie of The Bride t-shirts retail for only $29. Inkbox Design is based in California but Canadian orders are welcome.

Westin Bear Mountain - My Visit! |

Over the Canada Day weekend I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Westin Bear Mountain Resort near Victoria on beautiful Vancouver Island.
I had been hearing so many incredible things about this property that I really wanted a first-hand glimpse at what all the buzz was about. The first time I had heard about the resort was last December. I reviewed the wedding images of a very 'private' NHL player who had been married there in 2007. Below, are some scenic shots of his wedding as photographed by Bebb Studios. I wasn't sure when I would visit the resort myself but it was definitely on my radar. Finally, over the Canada Day weekend we headed over to the island for some R & R and it truly met my expectations... and then some. :)
It's easy to compare the Bear Mountain community to Whistler as it exudes a similar alpine elegance and has similar architecture and design. Between the amazing fresh mountain air, the PRISTINE and new construction of multi-million dollar mountainside homes and the vast background of mountains it really is a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The Westin Bear Mountain Resort itself is the "jewel-in-the-crown" of the Bear Mountain community. It's got a distinct Arts & Crafts interior decor and being a Westin property - comes complete with all of the luxury amenities you would expect.
But, the best part of this little piece of alpine heaven is that it's still relatively undiscovered which means that there is no such thing as a 'big crowd' or a sea of tourists. Pure privacy and relaxation is found!
I was given a lovely tour and saw first-hand the amazing wedding facilities that the resort offers. You could tie-the-knot on the Highland's Celebration Arbour which offers breathtaking scenery over the 18th green of the mountainside golf course. (see pic, below). The luxe Bear Mountain Ballroom can host a 300 person reception. The on-site Sante Spa is a haven for pre-wedding pampering while the guys can unwind on the Nicklaus co-designed course.
Overall, I think this resort boasts a completely private, totally luxurious and spectacularly Canadian five-star reason to consider it for your wedding.
All this... and you can even bring your furry child along (for those who may have a four-legged son or daughter to incorporate into the festivities). The resort is pet-friendly as my own little guy Macintosh can attest to.

 Beaches are DEFINITELY on my mind today because I'm daydreaming of Hawaii (where I'll be heading off on a press trip in less than two weeks). Yay! As always, the universe was listening because this morning I received an email update from Birks about their beautiful new line of sea-inspired jewelry.
The collection is called BIRKS SEASIDE™ by ESTY and the folks at Birks say it best on their website when they describe ". . .imprints of tiny seashells cast in sterling silver are accented by a whimsical starfish in 18k yellow gold.
